Green Roof Models

Model Setup:

All models are 2 ft. x 2 ft. wood frames with wafer board substrates and adhered EPDM roofing membrane. The models have sheet metal edging to retain the growth media. Storm water is collected using covered gutters that drain into closed containers. Thermocouples have been placed on the membrane with leads connected to a data collection device.

Testing models:

4 with 2 inches of growth media and plants
4 with 4 inches of growth media and plants
4 with 6 inches of growth media and plants
4 with 8 inches of growth media and plants

Control models:

3 with 2 inches of growth media without plants
3 with 4 inches of growth media without plants
3 with 6 inches of growth media without plants
3 with 8 inches of growth media without plants
4 with roofing membrane only
